With the school mission geared to forming students into responsible citizens who love God and nature, christian education and the practice of christian faith is of paramount importance at St. Francis of Assisi High School. Christian Religious Education is one of the core subjects taught at our school.

To support students in their spiritual growth and the practice of their christian faith, a number of religious activities are done in the school. They include the following:

  1. Beginning and end of classes prayers. Before  beginning teaching and learning in the morning, each class recites a communal prayer aimed to dedicating the day to God. At the end of the last lesson each class recites the prayer of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron of the school.

2. Evening Praise.  After supper, before the evening prep, students gather for common prayers which begin with brief songs of praise and worship.

3. Sunday Service.  Every Sunday, the students and accompanying staff, join the local community at a nearby church for the 8:00 am Sunday Service. Students animate the liturgy.

4. Eucharistic Celebration (Mass). Each term, at least two masses are celebrated for students and staff at school. For the time being, until a fully fledged chaplaincy is established at school, the masses are celebrated by visiting priests from Kamwenge Catholic Parish, under whose pastoral jurisdiction the school is. Before celebrating Mass the priest administers the sacrament of reconciliation to those who need it.

5. Clubs and Associations. The spirituality of students is also enhanced through the various religious clubs, movements, and associations that exist in the school. These include the Legion of Mary, Young Christian Students (YCS), Charismatic Renewal, etc.
